Attorney General Maura Healey Calls On Bruins To Compensate Employees – Boston Herald
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey has been inundated with calls from hourly workers across the state wondering what to do during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Bruins released a statement to the Herald on Friday that they “are actively exploring support options and will have more information in the coming days”, but have not responded to subsequent demands regarding workers’ compensation part-time in the arena.
Several employees spoke to the Herald on Wednesday about TD Garden’s lack of communication on how to proceed, and Healey said these concerns were also raised in his office.
“They’re totally stressed out,” said Healey. “One of them told us about the fear of becoming homeless without this income, and in the midst of this public health emergency, it is important to do everything we can to try to support each other.”
The Ottawa Senators and the Minnesota Wild were the last two teams to announce a plan to financially support the workers on Tuesday, leaving the Bruins as the only organization that said nothing.
Bruins players contributed to a GoFundMe public page that has been circulating on social media for the past week.
“Delaware North is a billion dollar company and Bruins players should not be contributing to GoFundMe pages themselves to support these workers,” she said. “All the other NHL teams have intensified, I hope the Jacobs family will also intensify at this time. It will make a huge difference for workers. ”
TD Garden employee emailed Herald on Wednesday, writing that she had found part-time work outside the garden while contemplating her future as an employee there after receiving no instructions on how to proceed during the crisis.
Finding a job is already difficult for many hourly workers in multiple jobs, but doing so during a global pandemic because their employers will not pay what they would have earned on match days is a struggle that Healey should not have to face.
“It’s time for the community and people to step up,” said Healey. “I have seen so many companies and businesses doing just that. I was really disappointed that the Jacobs were the only NHL owners who didn’t come forward and did something for their employees.”
