Wiese was named Big Ten Conference All-Academic a year ago, when he earned his second letter with the Gophers and made his first college performance, 12 shots stopped over a period of 34 minutes, 43 seconds in a victory of an exhibition game against Bemidji State.

Motzko, in his seventh season as head coach of Gophers, has led the team to an NCAA tournament berth for the fifth time in that period.

Minnesota, which fell for Notre Dame last weekend in a best-of-3 Big ten Conference Quarterfinal Series, is currently number 4 in the purple rankings, the formula that determines the field for the 16-team NCAA tournament.
