Miac announces 2024-25 Men's Hockey Awards
Bethel Junior Vooruit Tyler Brothers and St. Olaf Senior defender Connor Kalthoff were selected by Miac head coaches as the attacking and defensive players of the year respectively. St. Scholastica First -year defender Wyatt Wurst Was called Rookie of the Year, while Gustavus Head Coach Tyler Walsh was recognized by his colleagues with Coach of the Year Honors.
Braccini (Jr. Braccini is in second place in the conference scored with eleven goals and finished bound for the third highest assistant total with Ten League Play. He is the second consecutive royal to the MIAC -attacking player of the year Tyler Kostelecky.
Kalthoff (Sr. | Sartell, Minn.) Was selected as the MIAC defending player of the year after he helped the Oles to secure a berth after the season for the fourth consecutive season. St. Olafs on-Ice leader in both Power-Play and Penalty-Kill situations, Kalthoff led the Oles to the top rail play percentage in the conference this season (.271) and a penalty-dead percentage of .813 in competition matches. Kalthoff is the Oles First Miac Player of the Year Honoree in Mens Hockey Since Jeff Harris was named the Co-Player of the Year conferences in 2013.
Wurst (Fy. | Edina, Minn.) Was named Miac Rookie of the year after leading the conference with 16 assists in Miac game during his debut season. Wurst is also in third place in the Miac with 24 blocked shots and a +/- of 12 in conference competitions. He is the first St. Scholastica Heren Hockey Player to receive the Miac Rookie of the Year Award.
Walsh (first season) was celebrated by his colleagues with Miac Men's Hockey Coach of the Year Honors after leading the Gusties to their first regular seasonal conference title since the 2009-10 campaign. He is the third coach in the program history that is honored with the Miac Coach of the Year Award, with five -time receiver Don Roberts and triple winner Brett Petersen.
In addition to individual prizes, MIAC coaches also selected 20 players All-Conference with six more receiving distinction between mention. All prizes were nominated and voted by the nine Miac Hen's Hockey Coaches, and only statistics of the regular MIAC competitions were taken into account for conference -awards; Every nominated player who was not selected as an all-conference, but still received voices from at least three coaches, was called an honorable mention.
