Bronze for Fliss Pickard and Grace Williams in Portugal

Fliss Pickard and Grace Williams took Bronze in the women's class 6 and women's class 8 singles respectively at the ITTF World Para Future Costa Brava Tournament in Platja Daro today.
There were also some good victories and promising versions of a largely inexperienced team, with six other British athletes who go from their groups to the knockout phases.
Womens Class 6
Fliss Pickard (shown above) was a comfortable 3-0 winner against World No 21 Bhavikaben Kukadiya from India and then recovered from dropping a tight third set 13-11 to beat the world no. 13 Barbara Jablonka, golden medal winner in the world assets sport last year.
Pickard had never lost to Caillaud tomorrow in eight previous meetings, but could not find her best form today in their semi-final and the World No 9 from France was a 3-0 winner.
Morgan played very well today and the honor of her, said a disappointed pickard. This is probably my worst ever of a season and I have a lot to think about when I return to the training hall.
Ladies class 8
Grace Williams won 3-0 against the non-stunned Savita Vorstal Ajjanakatti from India and then showed all her character to fight back from 2-1 and beat the world no. 13 Lucie Hautiere, the European Dubbles Brons medal winner 3-2 to continue to the Semi final. She had to settle for bronze after a 3-0 loss for Olaia Martinez from Spain.
In general I have had a good singles tournament, Williams said, with some good things in competitions, but there are many things to work on the rest of the season.
Men's class 3
Romain Simon lost 3-1 to Francois Geuljans from France and then kept in conflict with a 3-0 win against Kens Koniyev from Kazakhstan. As second, he progressed second after a 3-1 victory against Stephane Gil-Martins from Portugal, but went out in the quarterfinals after losing three narrow sets by Ibrahim Alhassan from Saudi Arabia.
Men's class 6
Dan Thomson was a 3-0 winner against the French open silver medal winner of last year Rafal Kraft from Portugal and then fought again from 2-0 to beat Yaser Hussaini from Australia 3-2. He lost his last group match to Cristian Dettoni of Chile 3-0, but progressed from group 2 to the quarterfinals, where he lost 3-0 to Piotr Manturz, last year French Open Champion from Poland.

In group 3, Jacob Wicks started a 3-0 win against Lennard Propjohn, the Oceania Para Championships Bronze Medal winner from Australia, and followed a 3-0 win against Tokkozha Kadyrbek from Kazakhstan.
He brought a great achievement in the defeat against Piotr Manturz, who took the lead twice before he lost 11-9 in the fifth, and progressed to the quarterfinals where he was involved in another fight of five set against fellow teenager Samuel Altshuler, Zilveren medal winner in Brazil.
Men's class 7
Theo Bishop was a 3-1 winner against Sanjeev Hammannavar from India and then came through a big fight against Yannick Parisis from the Netherlands, with a tight fourth set 13-11 on 2-2 leveling and then took the decisive set 11-8. He progressed to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 victory against Pablo Romero from Spain and led World No 7 Michal Deigler from Poland 2-1 before he was excluded in the fifth.

Men's class 8
Ryan Henry was a 3-0 winner against Pramod Kumar from India and then lost in four narrow sets of Alejandro Diaz from Spain. He insured his place in the knockout phase with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Paul van der Oord from the Netherlands and took the decisive set 11-2 after the Dutchman had fought back from 2-0 to the level at 2-2.
Henry faced another Dutchman, Roy van der Burg, in the last 16 and although he started well and the first set 11-9, Van der Burg leveled and then took a close third 12-10 before he won a 3-1 victory, 11-8 in the fourth.
Men's class 10
Shae Thakker lost 3-1 to Paquel Wlodyka from Poland, but progressed from group 3 as second after a 3-0 win against Yann Yi Ming Gores from the Netherlands and a 3-1 victory against Hitesh Dolwani from India. He took a tight first set against Lorenzo Cordua 13-11, but the world no. 18 from Italy came back to win 3-1.
