Mahmudullah says goodbye to Bangladesh Cricket
Veteran Bangladesh Batter Mahmudullah announced his retirement of International Cricket on Wednesday.

“I decided to retire from international cricket,” wrote the 39-year-old, who withdrew from tests in 2021 and T20is in 2024, in a post on social media.
Mahmudullah ends the fourth highest highest ODI-Run-Getter from Bangladesh with 5689 runs at 36.46, including four centuries of all in ICC tournaments.
He scored back-to-back centuries in the 2015 World Cup, another in the 2017 Champions Trophy against New Zealand, and a fourth in the ODI World Cup 2023 against South Africa.
“I want to thank all my teammates, coaches and especially my fans who have always supported me,” added his Facebook message.
“A big thanks to my parents, my laws especially my father-in-law and especially my brother Emdad Ullah who is constantly for me since my childhood as my coach and mentor,” said Mahmudullah, who played 239 ODIs, 50 tests and 141 T20is in his 17-year career.
“And finally thanks to my wife and children who have been my support system because of fat and thin. I know that Raeid will miss me in Red & Green Jersey. Not everything comes to an end in a perfect way, but you say yes and continue.
Mahmudullah made his ODI debut in 2007 and initially played as an all-rounder of lower order.
A turning point arrived in the 2011 World Cup when he led Bangladesh to a famous victory over England.
He later became an important battle of the middle order, which produced memorable beats, including his historic 223-run stand with Shakib Al Hasan against New Zealand in 2017 Champions Trophy.
Mahmudullah's pension marks the end of the golden generation of Bangladesh, including Tamim Iqbal, Shakib-Al-Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mashrafe Mortaza. He is the only battle of Bangladesh to score three ODI World Cup for centuries.
