Gunner Stockton brings another juice to the Georgia football program, as Pro Day demonstrates

Athens Gunner Stockton stepped into a role that was previously held by Carson Beck on Wednesday.

In two of the previous three Georgia Pro Days, it was Beck who would be fitted to NFL-BONT-BONG Catchers. Whether it was George Pickens or Ladd McConkey, it would have been a task performed by Beck.

But instead of showing NFL talent evaluators what he could do, Beck is now in Miami while recovering from a seasonal elbow injury that he sustained in the SEC Championship match.

So it was Stockton who again filled for Beck.

Stockton hopes to take a different role that was previously held as Georgias who start Quarterback. He is fighting Ryan Puglisi this spring to do this.

Kirby Smart probably wants to see that the Quarterback competition extends after spring. Georgia was always able to bring in an experienced quarterback via the transfer portal, with another window opening in April.

But he liked everything that smartly observed.

He has done everything well since he has been here. That is really what he embodies, Smart said Tuesday. He is a tough boy who loves football, who loves his teammates. You won't get much Rah-Rah from Gunner. He does not feel that it is his role. He deserves the respect of people how he works and he carries himself. He has a lot of faith in his assets. He has a lot of knowledge of our system. I think that resonates a bit with the other players. They gather around Gunner because they have a lot of respect for him.

Smart is not the only one who is enthusiastic to see what Stockton keeps doing. He now has one start, one pro day and one spring exercise under his belt.

He will not play with the boys with whom he threw on Wednesday. They will all be in the NFL next year.

But everyone who spoke about Stockton did this with a smile and enthusiasm that wasn't always there when they were asked for Beck.

I love Gunner. I am so excited, said Center Jared Wilson. I certainly hated to see Carson go down and never see a teammate going down and getting injured and then he went through the mental fights he went through. Once Gunner came to that match, it brought a little extra juice to the team. It was great.

Wilson was not the only one who noticed the difference in his attitude. Stockton and Beck are very different personalities and the way they wear themselves.

Many teammates acknowledged that Stockton brings a certain juice to the team. And that other attitude has an impact on the violation, as Arian Smith noted.

As I say every day, if you are not positive, you are negative, people will also be negative, Smith said. When I come to complain, other people will feel the need to complain. But if you are positive, it just rubs off other people. They take you a little behind.

Wilson acknowledged that Stockton could be more vocal, which is not uncommon for someone who has only made one start in his career so far. Experience is something that is missing Stockton, and that is why every representative matters, even on pro -days.

That clearly helped Beck when he eventually became Georgias to start Quarterback.

Every representative is for Stockton this spring, because he is now the most experienced quarterback on the Roster.

Whatever the circumstances are, he always smiled, broad recipient Dominic Lovett said. He is a great guy to be in the neighborhood. Has a great leader. I have the feeling what is going on, it is very ready. I feel that he can control the room at his own pace. He guides and helps the younger boys, but not only younger boys, such as Quarterbacks.

Stockton knows that he has a lot to learn. He saw everything that Beck went through last season and learned from it. He will not add Lamborghini to his garage and settle for his Ford Pick -Up Truck instead.

As it did for Beck, it matters that Stockton went to Lovett, Smith, who walked back Trevor Etienne and tightly end Benjamin YuroSek.

He knows that he should improve if Georgia needs a better violation than Beck was at Quarterback.

He wants to get extra throws, Lovett said. He wants to get extra with everyone he can, even with the defensive players. He is just a brain voter. When you see him, he is just always cheerful. He always laughs what it is.
