5 transfers that can break out during spring training for Auburn Football

Auburn Football did not give his fans much to be enthusiastic about the field last season. The Tigers ended with 5-7 and blew a number of close games.

The low season caused some intrigues and promise and added a Top 10 World Class and a talented group of incoming transfers.

Hugh Freeze and the staff brought additions to a number of important areas and supplemented other positions that were already strong last season. With the start of the spring practice a little less than two weeks, some of those transfers get the chance to create important roles on the field.

Here are five transfers with potential to have a breakout -spring:

Jackson Arnold, QB

There was no greater addition to the Auburn football team this season than Arnold.

Quarterback was undoubtedly the greatest need for Auburns when the winter portal window started, and Arnold was the tent addition to that position. He was not the only one – the Tigers added Ashton Daniels from Stanford and received the former South Carolina Signal Caller, Tanner Bailey from retirement – but Arnold is the most likely starter to start the 2025 season.

That said, you can claim that it is difficult to be a breakout player if you are already so familiar. However, there are many questions about how effective Arnold can be.

His one season in Oklahoma was up and down to say the least. He threw only 1,421 yards, 12 touchdowns and was briefly gained during the season.

Freeze seems to have a vision for him, and Arnold's Five-Star Recruiting Ranking would suggest that he has the talent to be a good SouthEastern Conference Quarterback.

The spring practice will be the first chance for Freeze and Arnold to really work together and if the fit is there as the staff hopes, the following month could be a promising preview of the season.

Durell Robinson, RB

Robinson was a relative under the Radar addition for Auburn last December, but his production at UConn creates reason to be optimistic.

Not only that, walking back is a relatively open battle that starts spring after the departure of Jarquez Hunter. Robinson hurried last season for 731 Yards with the Huskies, scored eight touchdowns and an average of 6.8 yards per Carry.

He joins a running room with talented returners Damari Alston and Jeremiah Cobb, along with promising first -year Alvin Henderson and Omar Mabson.

Alston and Cobb are apparently in the best position to get most of the Carry's next season in view of their fame, but a solid spring from Robinson will probably put his name straight in the mix as a player to look at the 2025 season.

Raion Strader, CB

Strader was an intriguing pick -up for Auburn in the Winter Portal window and joined a position group that has already been properly loaded.

Auburn returned with corners Kayin Lee and Jay Crawford, together with veteran champion Anthony who made an impression on both Corner and Nickel before he sustained a seasonal leg injury in week 4.

Despite the competition, Straders performance in Miami (OH) speaks for themselves. He was named the Mid-American Conference Cornerback of the Year in 2024 and a first-year All-American in 2023. Strader has already had a decorated university career, albeit against lesser competition.

It will be difficult to break into an Auburn -Secondary that is already properly established, but Strader has the pedigree to make the competition interesting. It is someone to watch during spring training, especially because he gets the challenge to stand in line against Auburn's broad recipients.

Xavier Atkins, LB

LineBacker is one of the most intriguing positions to pay attention to Auburn in the spring. The Tigers lost three seniors who had contributors last season, but have not added much experience during the Winter Portal window.

Atkins was the only transfer from Linebacker and came to Auburn after playing a season at LSU. He didn't play much during his time in Baton Rouge, but was a four-star reciprocal recovery that was best known for his speed.

He is one of the many young players in the Linebacker room, but his physical tools make him someone to watch. Returners Demarcus Riddick and Robert Woodyard Jr. seem to have the lead to start with, but what atkins looks like in the spring can determine what other potential changes that Auburn makes before the season starts.

Horatio Fields, WR

Fields was one of the two recipients who Auburn added during the Winter Portal window and joined highly recommended Georgia Tech Transfer Eric Singleton Jr.

Given Singleton's oeuvre and hype that comes from the portal, a good spring would not necessarily break him out. For fields, spring practice is a chance to strengthen a role for itself.

He comes to Auburn with experience and success in Wake Forest, but joins a room that is already filled with young talent. On 6-foot-2, 201 pounds, he brings the size and an extra red zone threat for Auburns attack.

He made 12 disputed catches on 24 goals in 2024, five more than any Auburn player, according to Pro Football Focus. Fields and Cam Coleman have the potential to appear as a one-two punch such as Jump Ball threats, with Singleton and Malcolm Simmons who balance the room with their speed and elusive.

The spring practice will be the first chance to see how it all fits together.
