Mary Joe Fernandez recorded in Orange Bowl Tennis Hall of Fame

*Only player in history to wipe all four division of Orange Bowl age in consecutive years

Miami Lakes, FLA. (March 11, 2025) Today the Orange Bowl announced the induction of tennis legend Mary Joe Fernandez In his prestigious Orange Bowl Tennis Hall of Fame.

Fernandez, generally regarded as one of the most talented players of its generation, wrote history as the only Playermal or Femaleto won all four age groups of the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships in successive years. She captured the girls 12s title at the age of 11, the girls 14s at the age of 12, the girls 16s at the age of 13, and the girls 18s 18s on just 14 years old unprecedented performance that remains unparalleled in the history of Junior Tennis. Her dominance in the Orange Bowl demonstrated her exceptional talent in her career and was the scene for her future success on the professional circuit.

Fernandez, a former world no. 4 in both singles and Doubles, enjoyed an excellent career with:

• Grand Slam Finals: Reaching the final of the Australian Open twice (1990 & 1992) and the French Open (1993).
• Olympic medals: Win gold in Doubles at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games with partner Gigi Fernandez and Brons in Singles at the 1992 Olympic Games.
• WTA titles: Achieving seven singles titles and seventeen Doubles titles on the WTA Tour.
• Grand Slam doubles titles: The recording of the Australian Open (1991) and French Open (1996) doubles titles.
• Team competitions: The US helps to win the Fed Cup (1996, 1999), later as the American Fed Cup captain (20082016), and the American Olympic Tennis Team to accept in 2012 and 2016.

Being initiated in the Orange Bowl Hall of Fame is a huge honor, Fernandez said. This tournament has been a springboard for so many great players and I am proud to be part of his rich history. I am very grateful to the Orange Bowl committee for this recognition and for their non -repellent dedication to growing the tennis game.

Fernandez will be officially initiated during a ceremony on Wednesday 26 March during the Miami's night session in Hard Rock Stadium.
