Michigan United Conservation Clubs organizes the annual convention in Treetops Resort Gaylord, MI – Last weekend, hunters, fishermen and Trappers from all over Michigan gathered in Treetops Resort in Gaylord in Gaylord for the annual convention of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs. The three -day event, held from Friday to Sunday, brought together affiliate clubs and individual members to discuss the policy, to celebrate and hear from key figures in Michigan Conservation. A total of 11 resolutions were presented and discussed by members, with seven successful passing by. One of the most striking resolutions was an initiative to expand underwater spearfishing opportunities, in addition to a different resolution to support the return of antlers, chance to hunt freedom and independence for 2025 and then. A resolution of 'earning a second dollar' was also presented, but in the end it was eventually failing to reach the required 2/3 votes for adoption. On Saturday, a keynote address of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) contained Deputy Director Shannon Lott, who gave insight into the priorities and cooperation of the agency with nature conservationists. Additional DNR representatives were Chief Sara Thompson, deputy chef Keith Kintigh of the Wildlife Division and Chief Jason Haines of the Division for Wet Enforcement. The annual awards of the convention took place on Saturday evening, where excellent people and organizations were recognized for their contributions to the preservation.
