Cedar Crest updated Woodland Commons adds new facilities to the campus

Fancy a delicious three -course meal, a invigorating training or 18 holes (inner) golf? Maybe you would rather relax with a good book? Or play a game of table slideboard, table tennis, billiards or mah-jongg with friends?

Since undergoing an extensive renewal of its restaurants and fitness center, plus the addition of a new mediaounge and golf simulator, the clubhouse has become a bustling hub of resident activity.

Pulled to the variety of fascinating activities of Cedar Crest, in particular the Players Theater Group, Playwriting lessons, permanent education lessons and the internal literary magazine, Lois Kipnis moved to the lively community in 2020.

Thanks to the renovations at Woodland Commons, she has to love even more.

“I love the atmosphere of the lobby. It is modern and hospitable,” she says. “And the living rooms on the second floor and over the head are comfortable and spatial. The multifunctional rooms and classrooms on the second floor are useful for meetings, classes and rehearsals. They are large enough to invite a small audience to view plays or theater group presentations.”

The improved restaurant of Overlook comes alive at night for luxury dining, with popular comfort food, regional recipes and seasonal favorites, from bacon-packed pork tenderloin to Atlantic salmon all fresh and cooked to order.

“The Overlook has become such a great place to eat,” says sales director Ray Guarino. “New menu offers-created by Dining Services Director Gilles Lerch and his team is introduced weekly, so that residents can always find something to enjoy.”

Lois also enjoys the new game and card space, where people relax with cards, Mah-Jongg, Rummikub, Scrabble and other games.

“The indoor shuffleboard game and pool tables are treats for my grandchildren and my adult children when they visit,” she says.

Exterior
The Woodland Commons Upgrade was planned with a mission in mind: bringing in the outdoors.

Now residents enjoy the electricity that is made between the new Bosbistro and outdoor activities and facilities, including Bocce, Horseshoes and the many hiking trails of the community.

“Residents come to the bistro before or after playing bouche or horseshoes outside,” Guarino explains. “The clubhouse really hops!”

The warm and earthly color palette of the bistro is emphasized with color points and crispy accents of stone and granite in walls and counters.

The Woodland Bistro menu varies from a tasty selection from continental breakfast offers to delicious lunch and dinner requirements, including salads, sandwiches and starters.

“The ambiance of the Woodland Bistro, where you can sit inside or outside with a beautiful view, is a nice gathering place for coffee or a meal,” says Lois. “I like it as a lunch or a salad-to-go for dinner.”

Train and relax
The extensive fitness center at Woodland Commons is now one of the largest in the community and offers a range of ultramodern equipment and programs, including Echelon Connect bikes, an echelon reflecting fitness mirror and smart treadmill with screens.

“Residents really enjoy the new fitness center,” says fitness manager Stacey Myers-Smith. “We have seen a lot of use of the Echelons, together with the TV in the fitness studio that residents use for YouTube and Wellbeats -fitness lessons. And the nuppHende Cross trainers are always popular.”

For residents who are looking for a little quiet time, the updated clubhouse has a media lounge: a quiet, quiet space to grab a book or magazine to read or work on your laptop.

And if your favorite way to relax is 18 holes golf, you are lucky! Woodland Commons recently installed a golf simulator, so that residents can play virtual jobs all year round, all from the comfort of the clubhouse.

“There is no such thing as a low season when you have access to technology like this,” says sales advisor Nicholas Rossiello. “Residents can set it quickly and play an 18-hole round or practice their swing in a Driving Range session. The room has a very nice aesthetics, up to the seats and design.”

“Now Woodland Commons is a lively destination for dining, socializing and having fun, Cedar Crest is all about,” says Guarino.

“There are plenty of opportunities to meet so many interesting people and to dine with a variety of people,” Lois agrees. “There is something for everyone!”
