Treasurer of Uniontown Football Boosters accused of deepening more than $ 18,000
The former treasurer of the Uniontown Football Boosters is now being investigated after thousands of dollars have been missing and the president of the boosters said she discovered the missing money when a company called to say that it was not paid.
That money was collected for the football teams in the school district of Uniontown Area and was supposed to be used for things such as new uniforms, helmets, team bankets and trophies.
Now, the president said, they don't have two money to rub together.
“I am devastated, I was injured,” said Tiffany Blaho.
That is the reaction you would expect from Blaho after she heard that money was missing.
“I would be responsible for one of these people I worked for,” she said. “I would have had ten toes to tell people that they are great people and they are here to help. So it hurts to know that someone I spent a lot of time, whom I trusted would do something like that.”
That someone to whom Blaho or did, is the now-formal treasurer who is being investigated for alleged abuse of around $ 18,000. When it was brought to her attention, she heard that the bank account was exaggerated with more than $ 3,000.
Confused, she asked the treasurer, who was the only signer on the bank account, she always got the runaround.
“We just kept pushing and initially we were told that you just played too much, and I am sorry that I allowed you to spend too much, but that was the case,” said Blaho.
Only when Blaho had a meeting with the bank, did she discover that all the money had disappeared. The former treasurer, who has not yet been formally charged, has returned some money and would have left the bill of $ 40 – far away from the starting term of office of $ 18,000.
“We don't have it now, so how do we celebrate our football children with banquets or how do we support them?” Asked Blaho.
While the community is waiting for justice, Uniontown City Council member Angela Brown said that the children earn better. Now she takes matters into her own hands and tries to collect the missing funds and still something so that the children can be celebrated for all their performance.
“I just want to help the children and make them completely again,” she said. “That is my goal, just to make them whole. We can worry about the legal things later, but we have to get the money from these children back.”
The State Police of Pennsylvania is now investigating.
