A year after murder, Cape COD Family Legacy honors former hockey star Boston 25 News
Barnstable, Massachusetts – a year after Meghan killed Moores, her family canalize their grief through a foundation in honor of the inheritance of the former Barnstable High School Hockey star.
Meghan, 25, lived in Miami with her former New England College hockey teammate, Sidney Capolino, when the housemates were deadly shot by Meghan's Stalker, who then committed suicide.
I still feel this anger and sorrow that there was no right to justice in that sense, said Meghan's older sister Molly Moore. She was the best little sister. I think it just doesn't really feel a year later. You expect a little bit of your little sister to have monumental things.
Through their heartache, Meghan's family, led by her parents, Mary Beth and William Moore, the Meghan Constance Moore Memorial Fund and last year raised more than $ 200,000.
The funds will benefit scholarships for high school athletes in Cape Cod-area, who continue to work out at the university and annually $ 10,000 contributions to Meghan and Sidneys Alma Mater, New England College in New Hampshire.
It is good that it will help her name to live on, and that makes me really happy, said Meghan's older brother Will, who had visited a month in Florida shortly before the tragedy. She was bigger than life.
Meg and Sids hockey numbers are retired at New England College, where the athletic office will be named after them.
I think it just shows how many lives they have touched, Molly said. I want her to be remembered when the happy, hilarious, strong, self -assured girl she was.
Meghan's parents, who own the popular Hyannis restaurant Spankys Clam Shack, have kept their daughters name alive by sharing her story and the foundation in honor of her. In the restaurant, customers can scan a QR code to donate to the fund.
Support and donations from their network of loved ones, as well as customers and full strangers, have humiliated the Moores in the past year.
You can't really predict that this would happen and then how to get through a year, Molly said. And it still feels like yesterday. So just having those people has been great.
Will is also supported by the constant support of family and friends.

De Moores are organizing a run for MEG 5K fundraising on 10 May.
