Salt Lake City in the midst of the seasonal excitement of the play-off push of the Utah Hockey Club during the first season of the team in Salt Lake City, another event that fans has fascinated for months, may have reached its conclusion.

The future nickname of the team has been one of the most discussed, and meticulously, secrets and on Monday Sportswriter Dennis Dodd claimed that a decision was made.

Of the three nicknames that fans voted for last month, an online search shows that Mammoth has been advanced in the federal patent process. US Patent Office documents show that an application extension was requested and granted for Mammoth on 4 February, only a few days after the voting of fans ended.
In another interesting step, the only other name that granted an extension for a blank trademark from Utah Hockey Club that contained none of the current logos that contained the franchise.
That leaves the Outlaws, whose application has received a non-final action knowledge, which means that the team has three months from January to take action or that trademark will be left. Both the Mammoet and the empty applications in Utah Hockey Club received the same notification as the Outlaws, but action was taken to expand those trademarks.
During the selection process of the nickname, team officials did not determine a solid date when a winner will be announced, but many believe that the release would probably come after the club's inaugural season in Utah.
The team has yet to respond to a request for comments about the nickname status by FOX 13 News.
