Athlete of the week: 10 questions with Addison Stewart, Nieuw Trier Hockey
Addison Stewart is an all-state center for new Trier hockey. She scored four goals in the State Championship match on Sunday 16 March. Stewart also plays for the Chicago Mission Club team.
1. Do you have pregame rituals or superstition?
Yes. So for a game I have to go to Starbucks and I regularly have to get Strawberry Lemonade, and when I drive there, I listen to the same songs, there is a whole list of it. And when I am on the ice rink, this is for a mission, during our warming, we kick a football around. And all my equipment that I have put from left to right, but then my skates are from left to left.
2. What are your plans for next year?
Next year I am planning to attend the University of Connecticut to play hockey. When I look at schools, New Trier is a very large school, I wanted a large school that had good academic and athletics, and not just in the hockey world. March Madness is here and it is a very large basketball school. It will be fun. I have loved it for so long.
3. What is your favorite thing to do of the ice?
I like to go shopping and hang out with friends, bake, go to the beach.
4. If you could play a different sport, what would it be?
I think I would play volleyball. I played when I was small and thought it was great. Then hockey took over. So volleyball or sport that I have never played before, maybe like Lacrosse; That can be nice.
5. When did hockey take over?
I have always paid football and hockey in high school. When I was in high school, I played volleyball, basketball, volleyball and hockey. Football and hockey have been in high school.
6. Who is your favorite athlete?
Patrick Kane (former Chicago Blackhawks). I grew up watching him since I was small. He always noticed.
7. What is your top sport height so far?
Probably the state this year and last year was so much fun for Club, not just for New Trier. I had a goal in both (club) champion matches. Or making USA Hockey National Camp a few years ago.
8. If you are in Walgreens with a few dollars, what do you buy?
I will have to buy some sour patch children or a Reeses. One or the other.
9. What is something that people don't know about you?
That I have two middle names: Rose Marie.
10. Ending with a state championship, how would you describe your last year with new Trier hockey?
It was a very nice season, a very winning season and it was a great way to end it by winning the state. Our team was a bit younger. Last year we had an older team, more seniors. This year more first -year students arrived, which was fun. This year we had a new coach, coach Ben, and he changed a little things, but it all worked perfectly and we had a nice year.
