Divorce granted … Chahal's enormous settlement unveiled
A family court in Mumbai allowed the joint plea that was submitted by cricket player Yuzvendra Chahal and his alienated woman who sought divorce through mutual permission.

The alienated pair appeared in front of the family court in Bandra.
Chahal's lawyer Nitin Gupta said that the family court has granted a decision about the joint petition submitted by Chahal and Verma for separation by mutual permission.
The court noted that the parties complied with the consent conditions.
“The family court has accepted the joint petition of Chahal and Verma that divorce is looking for divorce,” said Gupta.
Chahal and Verma were married in December 2020. According to their petition, they separated in June 2022.
On 5 February they submitted a joint petition before the family court separated by mutual permission.
The High Court of Bombay asked the Family Court on Wednesday to determine the divorce entry on Thursday, given that Chahal would not be available later because he participates in the upcoming Cricket Tournament of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The IPL T20 Cricket Tournament is planned to start from March 22. Chahal is part of the Punjab Kings team.
The HC on Wednesday also abandoned the six-month cooling period for each pair after submitting the divorce entry under the Hindu marriage law.
The cricket player and Verma had submitted a joint petition before the HC, looking for the cooling -off period in their case because they have requested a divorce due to mutual permission.
The petition, submitted through lawyer Nitin Gupta, also prayed for a direction to the Family Court to quickly decide the divorce request.
The couple challenged the Family Court Order of 20 February and refused to refrain from the cooling -off period.
According to the Hindu wedding law, a couple must undergo a cooling period of six months before the separation is granted. The goal is to offer time to explore the possibility of reconciliation.
The Hof family had refused to refrain from the cooling -off period on the basis of the fact that there was only partial compliance with the consent conditions that Chahal required to pay RS 4.75 Crore to Dhanashree.
He had paid RS 2.37 Crore, the family court noticed. It also mentioned a report from a marriage adviser who said that there was only partial compliance with the mediation efforts.
But the Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that there was compliance with the consent conditions, because it provided for the payment of the second delivery of permanent alimony only after the divorce decision was obtained.
