Vernal Oilers Hockey Team went to Nationals after perfect 44-0 regular season
Salt Lake City The hockey culture in Utah is growing and a team with a small city has a big impact.
The Vernal Oilers, an unbeaten team in the US Prime Minister Hockey League, go to Nationals for the second year in a row.
When you think of Vernal, Utah, images of dinosaurs and outdoor adventures will probably come up in me. But now, thanks to the Vernal Oilers, the city also receives recognition for the growing hockey scene.
The Oilers ended their regular season with a perfect 44-0 record, with the world that hockey can thrive in unexpected places.
Before we went to the airport for Nationals, we caught up with the team when they prepared for the next big challenge.

The Vernal Oilers come from a small city, but they have attracted players from all over the world, including Canada and Finland.
Coach Ryan House, a former player of Grizzlies from Canada, is pleased to be back in Utah, where he says that hockey culture is growing rapidly.
It caught my attention. A chance to live back in Utah and to be part of something new for the competition, said coach House.
The owner of the teams, David Imonti, has a deep hockey background in Utah, rather as the GM for the Park City Pioneers and the assistant coach for the Ogden Mustangs.
His term of office also includes director operations, assistant coach and head coach of the Wasatch Renegades in Salt Lake City.
He decided to invest in the small city team in 2021 and to transform the local ice rink into a popular location for fans.
The oilers have developed a loyal and enthusiastic fan base. During the Play -offs they sold competitions, with hundreds of fans who stand in line for hours before the puck fell. We have the best fan base in the entire competition, says player Roni Alanko. The home games for teams are electric, with fans cheering loudly and passionately for their team.
Now the oilers are on their way to New Jersey for subjects, who want to defend their unbeaten record and bring a national title for Utah home.
