The West -India Players' Association (WIPA) And Cricket West -India (CWI) Are aware of accusations of sexual harassment within the Western India Women's team during the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup, five years ago. Both organizations take such things seriously and remain fully committed to ensuring a safe, professional and supporting environment for all players and employees.
In the light of this, WIPA and CWI will convene to revise all aspects of athlete's security in the West Indies cricket. This joint effort reflects our dedication to maintain the highest standards of players' well -being and to ensure that all security policy remains robust and effective.
Both organizations have already taken important steps to improve the protection of players. In 2021, improved security measures were introduced for women's journeys, which strengthens safety and well -being. In May 2023, CWI implemented additional policy, including accommodations with one room for the Senior Women's team of West Indies in all international assignments, which ensures parity with the men's team. These include policy initiatives within the Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) for the period 1 October 2023 to 30 September 2027.
Furthermore, we have implemented and strictly speaking to UNICEF's protection policy, so that minors never share rooms with adults under some circumstances. Moreover, we have imposed the continuous training for all officials to strengthen and maintain these standards.
Wipa and CWI continue to commit themselves to promoting a culture of respect, accountability and professionalism in the West Indies Cricket.
