Swimming Australia supports the bold coach development program to stimulate para talent prior to Brisbane 2032
Swimming Australia has taken an important step to ensure that the para athletes of the country have access to Coaching Talent of World Class, with four emerging coaches selected for the innovative of the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) Project Coach development program.
The initiative, designed to strengthen the pipeline of Australia of Elite Para-Sport Coaches and athletes leading to the Paralympic Games of Brisbane 2032, welcomes David Heyden, Rick Pendleton, Ethan Forge and Toby Fitzgerald In his exclusive four -year program.
Delivery in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), Paralympics Australia (PA) and the government of Queensland, Project Para is aimed at reducing obstacles to participation, strengthening the identification of talent and improving performance paths in Para -Sport. Coaches of swimming, athletics, table tennis and bicycles are supported and developed to guarantee a sustainable future of coaching excellence in Para -Sport.
Swimming Australia's General Manager Paralympic Program, Anna Johnsoncongratulated the four Inductees and praised the vision of the program.

Among the Inductes is David HeydenHead coach at the University of Queensland, which led Paralympian Jack Ireland To silver and bronze during the Parisian 2024 competitions. Heyden emphasized the value of continuous growth in coaching.
“Just like swimmers, we are always looking for ways to improve, innovate and stay ahead of the game,” said Heyden.
“This is an opportunity to broaden, adjust, learn and bring new ideas into my work. I am delighted to be exposed to new learning opportunities, and I hope the knowledge I gain will contribute to successful results for 2028, 2032 and then.”
Queensland's Sports and Racing Minister and Minister of Olympic and Paralympic Games, Tim MandererWelcomed the collaboration between QAS, Paralympics Australia and National Sports organizations and called the program a 'Game-Changer'.
