The fiancée of the former Cal football player dies in crash with stolen car during police pursuit in Pittsburg

Pittsburg, California (KGO) — A tragic car accident at the weekend cost the life of a 23-year-old woman who was ready to marry her fiancé this summer, a former CAL football player. He is admitted to the hospital in a critical condition after the couple was hit by a speed -stolen car.

At 12:41 pm on Sunday, Villamalia Polina Tu'ipulotu and her fiancé, Beaux Tagaloa, left a family gathering in Pittsburg.

A fast -moving car rammed in their SUV at the corner of East Leland Road and Gladstone Drive.

Tu'ipulotu died on the spot.

Her fiancé, former Cal -football player, Beaux Tagaloa is in critical condition.

The accident started with a high speed chase on Highway 4 with California Highway Patrol who pursued a stolen car.

“A suspect armed with a stolen gun that existed a stolen gray Infiniti sedan was observed that he was driving at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour,” CHP said in a statement.

Officers caught up with the Suspect car when it left the highway.

They tried to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled in the streets of the city that ended with the crash.

The suspect survived and is also admitted to the hospital.

A Gofundme Has so far picked up more than $ 38,000 to go to the funeral costs for Tu'ipulotu. Her family describes her as a beautiful person inside and out, and they say she would get married this summer.

Cal Athletics has issued a statement stating: “Our thoughts are with Beau and his loved ones in this difficult time.”

The office of Contra Costa County DA leads the investigation into the accident with the help of CHP and Pittsburg Police Department.
