Glenwood Springs Native Drawing Interest from Topcollege Voetbal programs

College Scouts dig deep in the graduation class of 2027, but did not have to look far to find Landon Wolny.
Wolny, a resident of Glenwood Springs who now lives in Naples, Florida, is a four-star reckut and current second-year student at the Community School of Naples. According to 247SportsHe has already earned 18 Division I football offers and the list continues to grow.
“I think I have a special perspective by coming from Glenwood,” said Wolny. “Moving from such a small town to a city makes you humble. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth like many of the other children here. I owe so much to coach Sorenson, Joaquin (Sandoval), Mason (Markovich), and so many others who are still burning in Glenwood for the light of this fire in me.”
Programs from all over the country, including the University of Colorado Boulder and Notre Dame, compete for the chance of landing Wolny.
“Coming from Colorado, (CU) would be a dream,” he said. “Especially with the possibility of playing under coach Prime, I think that is something that every player dreams of. In the end my dream is to play in the competition, and I think that if that path is in my future, it would be very special.”
Wolny's versatility distinguishes him on 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds. Although he is mentioned as a tight end, he is often in the lock or even in the rear field.
“I will run everything that the coach also asks me,” he said, “we are going into a new era of football. I can stand in line in many different positions. I can run in three width, I am on the line, or I can be the final receiver.”
Wolny placed more than 300 all-purphoses yards and five touchdowns during his first-year season at First Baptist Academy in Naples. Even with his athletic success, he said that academics remain a top priority.
“I have a 4.6 GPA,” said Wolny. “I take my academics very seriously. Football can only take so long, and I want to be able to obtain a diploma, that is very important to me. Having said, schools such as Notre Dame and even some Ivy League's diving on my radar.”
He said that growing up in Glenwood Springs helped him understand the value of the community and to help your neighbors.
“Criminal law has always interested me,” he said. “I have always wanted to do something that not only helps me, but also my community. Growing up in Glenwood showed me that you had to keep thinking about others. It played a very big role in who I am today.”
The St. Stephen Catholic School -Alumni found his love for the Gridiron during Pop Warner Youth Football. During his childhood he was suitable for dreaming of playing for the demons, without the idea that he could get the chance to play with three decks in stadiums. He was flooded while playing under the cozy Roaring Fork Valley Mountains, but his passion took another step when he moved to Florida.
“I think my football fire in high school was lit when I played under coach Sorensen,” said Wolny. “It took another step when I arrived in Florida. Moving to an area like this, and playing football has taught me that hard work will eventually take you further than those who get the same things that are handed over to them. Football has taught me a lot of lessons and how I can work hard. Being able to share with friends and family is so special.”
With two years left in his high school career, Wolny's profile is still rising. His offers extend to coast, including powerful programs in the SEC, Big ten, Big 12 and Mountain West.
Wolny has received offers from the state of Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas and Ole Miss (SEC); Colorado and Utah (Big 12); Michigan State (Big ten); Colorado State and Boise State (Mountain West); Appalachian State (Sun Belt); And even the University of Hawaii on MNOA.
“I have 18 official offers,” he said. “I still have a lot of options. I think that with official visits and as the process continues, my options will begin to beg.”
Wolny still has to go an official visit, so his options remain very wide. He thinks after his junior season, his future will become clearer. He was invited to the Junior Day of Florida State University in early March and is planning a return trip to Boulder for one unofficial visit on April 12.
