Mens Tennis Falls in Meac's quarterfinals
Cary, NC (April 24, 2025) Howard University Men's Tennis Squad saw his title run on Thursday afternoon and dropped a 4-1 decision to rival Morgan State (MSU) in the Meac (mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) quarterfinals in Cary, NC, NC
Senior Marcel Dawson (Columbus, ga.) And selection of all Meac Michael Major Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) represented Bison Nation in the top Doubles-Slot and removed MSU's Makkijha Brown and Meac Player of the Year Mikeal Carpenter, 6-3.
MSU took the early match in the Singles competition despite the setback, 1-0, which won the other double matches, 6-4.
In Singles Play, Meac Rookie of the Year Kaosie Nwovedi (Charlotte, NC) defeated Brown in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).
Dawson and second -year Bizon Mitchell A (Queens, NY) saw their respective singles matches declared unfinished despite a lead in the last frame.
Morgan State (8-15) won the other three singles matches in straight sets and moved through the semi-final round of Friday (April 25) versus top placed South Carolina State.
Dawson and fellow classmate Daniel Dunac (Washington) saw their respective collegial careers stop.
Howard Director of Tennis Nicholas Askew and associate head coach Zach Tobias Look to load again for the next 2026 campaign in the endeavor of the program for another MEAC title.
