North Thurston Girls Tennis Victorious Against Timberline

The girls' tennis teams of North Thurston High School And Louds Meeted on April 23, 2025, where the Rams won the match 3-2 in 3a Wiaa PSL (Puget Sound League) play. The victory was the first for the season for North Thurston (1-6).

North Thurston head coach Mikki Matson was very happy with the work of her team and the first victory of the season. Our team is full of the most coaching, friendly and hard -working athletes and everyone in the team is really so much fun to coach, and we like to see them all grow, says Matson. Our coaching philosophy is very holistic. Something we focus on is growth, progress and setting goals. This is all to teach the love of tennis and to give them the best experience for a high school team.

Timberline (0-7) will be looking for his first PSL victory when it organizes a match against Capital (2-4) on Thursday.

Alliniece Andino, head coach for Timberline, spoke positively about her team and how they support each other. My team is great and they all enjoy each other authentically, Andiono noticed. Something I love about the team is that every returning player has skills to improve, and they have certainly listened to us as coaches, and have made the effort to improve their skills and reach a competitive advantage. We try to learn to work hard every player, to be optimistic and to ensure that the other competitor beats you and not just leaning back and losing.

North Thurston has one of the larger teams in the competition with around 40 athletes. We have grown enormously since my first season as a head coach in 2023 when we had 13 athletes. Last year we had about 25 in the team, and this season we have 40, explained Matson.
