Patriot League announces 2025 men's and women's tennis athletes and academic All-League teams (5.9.25)
Bethlehem, Pa. Buckknell Junior Amar Tahirovic and Senior Whitney King were named the 2025 Patriot League Mens and Womens Tennis Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as announced by the League Office on Friday.
Tahirovic was one of the two Buckknell student athletes named after the 2025 Patriot League Mens Tennis Academic All-League team. Army West Point, Colgate, Lehigh and Navy each had one representative.
Six institutions were represented in the 2025 Patriot League Womens Tennis Academic All-League team, with Army West Point, Boston University, Buckknell, Lafayette, Lehigh and Loyola Maryland, each earning one selection.
On the men's side, Buckknells Tahirovic and Colgates Josh Israel were appointed as the Academic All-League team for the second consecutive season. On the women's side, Buckknells King and Lafayette Senior Olivia Boeckman were honored as triple selections.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award and the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important player in his/her sport. First -year or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The selection process was carried out by the directors of the Leagues Mens Tennis Sports Information Information, who could not vote for their student athletes.
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner for each sport consists of the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards that are handed out in the summer. One male and one woman are selected for the honor.
2025 Patriot League Mens Scholar-Athlete of the Year

*Tahirovic was named the 2025 Patriot League player of the year after leading Buckknell to his first league title since 1991. He went 22-1 in double matches and 9-0 in competition game at number 1 singles.
*The Junior is a triple All-Patriot League First Team selection and was arranged in the ranking as National National in Singles in the ITA ranking.
*Tahirovic is a dean list student with the main subject in Business Analytics and German, and a recipient of both the Charles F. White Prize for student athletes and the Bison Club Award.
*Tahirovic has a 3.53 GPA in Business Analytics and German and acts as a team captain and is a member of the Buckknell Athletics Leadership Institute.
2025 Patriot League Womens Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Whitney King, Buckknell, Sr., Sarasota, FLA./ IMG Academy
*King is a marketing, innovation and design -Major with a 3.91 GPA while he is social media trainee for the inspiring Children Foundation.
*In her time in Buckknell, King founded the believers, a small company aimed at building community and mentoring by faith.
*King is a triple first team All-Patriot League selection. She posted a 15-7 record at number 1 singles and an 18-8 mark at number 1 double during the 2025 season.
*The senior is in fourth place of all time in the history of Buckknell with 79 career-double victories, seventh in combined victories (141) and ninth wins in Singles (62).
