Italian Open: Emma Raducanu deserves a win of clay by beating Jil Teichmann in Rome
Emma Raducanu demonstrated her growing trust in a Clay Court with an impressive Italian open second round victory over Swiss happy loser Jil Teichmann.
British number two Raducanu, who only knew that she was opposite Teichmann a few hours before the game, progressed with a clinical 6-2 6-2 victory.
After winning her first victory over Buitenklei in almost three years at The Madrid Open, she has now won back-to-back competitions in Rome.
It is the first time that Raducanu has reached the last 32 in the Italian capital – although the more difficult tests than the 94th Range Teichmann are waiting.
“I still don't really feel comfortable [on clay]”The 22-year-old English player told Sky Sports.
“I think it helps in a way that I have to be super focused on every point, get my feet well and not try not to fall.
“I think I find my feet slowly.”
Raducanu would be confronted with the 20th ranking Alexandrova, but the Russian went through the injury on Friday morning.
Instead, Raducanu found out in her warming, she would play Teichmann, a left -handed person who had lost lost.
Teichmann, 27, has been as high as 21st in the world ranking and is skilled on a surface that naturally comes for her than Raducanu.
