Hockey opens week at Quinnipiac, closes week at home against Simon Fraser
FAIRBANKS – The Nanooks hockey team will play one game tomorrow at No. 5 Quinnipiac before coming home for a single game against Simon Fraser on Saturday, November 8. Saturday's game against the Red Leafs will be an exhibition game.

The Nanooks appear in a two-game series at Princeton from October 31 through November. 1. The Nanooks skated well with the Tigers, but fell in both games and were swept by Princeton. In game one, the Nanooks fell behind 2-0 before pulling to within one Jhett Larson goal, his first career NCAA goal. Unfortunately, the Tigers added a pair early in the third. Haden Kruse added the second of the night for Alaska, bringing them within two, but an empty net goal for Princeton closed the door. In game two, the Nanooks' power play came to the fore as Alaska won 3-4 on the man advantage. Unfortunately, three power play goals weren't enough as Alaska fell 6-3. Chase Dafoe ended the evening with a few goals and Peyton dish scored the third goal. Michael Citara finished with three assists, and Nathan Rickey two added. Platter also had two points and added an assist on his goal.

- Michael Citara is the first Nanooks skater to score 10 points this season. After picking up three points in Princeton on Saturday, he now has four goals and six assists.
- His six assists are team-high, while his four goals are tied Chase Dafoe for a team high. Dafoe has four goals and three power play goals to lead the Nanooks.
- Nathan Rickey leads the blue line with six points on one goal and five assists. His number of assists ranks second on the team.
- Rylen Roersma leads the rookies in scoring through 10 games this season. Roersma has skated in nine of 10 games, scoring three points on a goal and two assists. He is one of four rookies to score a goal so far this year.
- The Nanooks scored most of their goals late. They have three goals in the first period, six goals in the second period and twelve goals in the third period for 21 on the season.
- The second period has been their strongest defensive period as they have only allowed five goals in the second period this year. They gave up fourteen goals in the first and twenty in the third.
- Alaska is 2-1-0 first this season. They are also 1-0-0 when outscoring their opponents, and 1-0 in one-goal games.
- The Nanooks are looking for their first road win of the season. They are currently 0-5-0 on the road.
What's to come
After Saturday's match with Simon Fraser, the Nanooks are off until Thanksgiving weekend during the Adirondack Winter Invitational on Nov. 28-29. They will take on St. Lawrence and Clarkson at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, NY. Alaska returns home on December 6 when Grand Canyon comes to Fairbanks for a single match.

Saturday's game against Simon Fraser will feature a canned food drive, with all donations going to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank. Fans who bring four canned food items will receive FREE ADMISSION to the game!
