Mansfield Legacy DL David Abiara is committed to Notre Dame
The sports world is currently on hold, but that hasn’t stopped Mansfield Legacy junior defensive end David Abiara from deciding his future.
Abiara, the 16th global recruit 2021 SportsDayHS Top 50announced its commitment to Notre-Dame on Friday. Abiara also considered Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU and Baylor.
Above all, I want to thank God for the grace and favor he has given me for being in this position, Abiara said in a statement posted on Twitter. Then I want to thank my amazing family and friends for their continued support throughout this process, without them none of this would be possible. I would also like to thank all of the coaching staff at Mansfield Legacy High School for pushing me to be the best player I can be on and off the field. Finally, I want to thank all the coaches who gave me the opportunity to come and play for their university. I will always be grateful to you. That said, I would like to announce that I am committed to the University of Notre Dame.
Abiara is classified among the four star recruits, according to the 247Sports composite classification, and hes the second-line defensive lineman SportsDayHS Top 50. He finished last season with 45 tackles, 10 loss tackles and seven sacks. He also recovered two escapees.
Abiara began to be recruited after her second season. Baylor was the first school to offer, according to 247Sports, in April 2019. Twenty-one more schools would volunteer before Abiara finally decides to play for the Fighting Irish.
