Hockey, cheer and dancing are also allowed during the fall season.
COLORADO, US Gov. Jared Polis announced Wednesday that Colorado would conditionally approve the request from Colorado High School Activities Associations (CHSAA) to make certain outdoor sports available this fall.
These outdoor sports include soccer, hockey, cheer and dance. Schools still have the choice to offer these sports in the spring.

This comes about a week after Polis said the Denver Broncos would be allowed to have 5,700 fans to attend their second home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During that same press conference, the governor said he hoped high school football could continue in the fall.

But just a day after the Governor’s comments, the CHSAA’s Board of Directors voted unanimously not to reconsider any changes to the 2020-2021 calendar.
What happened next was a fight between CHSAA and the governor’s office, which said the organization could have done more with the state to get high school football approval.
I think there is a window for additional fall sports that have been talked about, Polis said at a news conference on Friday. Not every district is ready for this. I think there are many. I talk to CHSSA regularly. We do everything we can to make this possible.
Student athletes held a protest last week asking to play during the fall.

“It’s more than a sport for so many of us. It’s kind of the reason we wake up in the morning and go to school,” said Isaac Abramson, a senior at Lutheran High School. ‘I’ve been playing for as long as I can remember. When I enter my senior year, you should be hired. Kind of when colleges start talking to you. ‘
On Friday, he teamed up with dozens of his opponents on the field and stood united at a crossroads in Highlands Ranch and asked the governor to let them play.
“There is still time for us to have a season this year. It is not too late to reverse the decision,” said Abramson. ‘I’ll wear a mask. I will draw what I need to draw. What I can do now to play football is what I will do. ‘
A petition to let them play has garnered more than 14,000 signatures.
At this point, there is no word on a possible timeline for if or when fall football could resume.
CHSAA tweeted on Friday that it has submitted variations for spirit, volleyball, hockey, gymnastics, soccer, and unified bowling in addition to football.
