Football: Highland Park DC Cale Melton named Kingwood football coach
Kingwood found his new head coach.
Humble ISD hired Ronald (Cale) Melton to resume the program on Monday afternoon.
"I am delighted to be at Kingwood High School because of the school's academic and sporting traditions," said Melton in a statement. "I look forward to building relationships with staff, students and the community."

Melton will be working on the Kingwood High School campus in April.
"It comes from a very successful program – we love it very much," said Humble ISD sport director Troy Kite. "More importantly, it corresponded to Kingwood, born of academic excellence and athletic excellence. I think that is what we are aiming for at Kingwood High School. "
Melton has been the defensive coordinator of the Scots since 2014, who are a perennial power in the Dallas / Fort Worth area and in the state of Texas.
At Highland Park, the team has won three state championships from 20016 to 2018. Since 2014, the Scotts have gone 66-7. He was also a powerlifting coach at Highland Park and Melton will become the sixth head coach in school history at Kingwood.
The move comes after Barry Campbell resigned from Kingwood after the season and accepted a coaching position at Belton as an assistant coach.
The Mustangs finished fourth in District 22-6A last season. Their season ended in the playoff round of the two districts at Beaumont West Brook for the second consecutive season.
Melton will be looking to improve Kingwood from last season's 5-6 overall record.
The Mustangs will be in District 21-6A this season, which consists of consecutive 6A champions North Shore, Atascocita, Summer Creek, Humble, West Brook and C.E. King.
