Barcelona’s plan for PSG’s Neymar plan includes 150m and Griezmann
The winter transfer window is closed, but now is the time to look to summer! Here are the new rumors circulating in the big European leagues and beyond.
TOP STORY: Barça to exchange Griezmann for Neymar
Barcelona seeks to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou and it looks like Antoine Griezmann will be used as a weight to facilitate the transaction, depending on Sky Sports.
Paris Saint-Germain values Neymar at 150m while Barça values Griezmann at 100m, and the Catalan giants hope to conclude a coin exchange agreement that will not only help them achieve one of their two main objectives – the other being Inter Milan. Lautaro Martinez for 111m – but also unload Griezmann at the same time.
The Frenchman was disappointed in his first season in Spain and selling it could help the Blaugrana finance their summer expenses.
Barça seem determined to sell Griezmann even if PSG does not agree to the deal, although the current market can prevent such heavy deals, given the number of clubs that are experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus epidemic.
08.36 BST: Norway ahead Martin Braithwaite only recently joined Barcelona … not actually in the January transfer window … but is already linked to a move.
Braithwaite, 28, has only made three appearances since moving to Camp Nou to replace Ousmane Dembele, and West Ham is looking to spend 15 yards to land it this summer, says the Daily Mail.
08:00 BST: The endless story of Jerome BoatengThe removal of Bayern Munich is planned for another chapter. Under contract until 2021, the former German international saw his stock increase under the new head coach Hansi Flick this season.
Pushed to the margins under Niko Kovac and said it was no longer necessary in the defense of Germany by Bundestrainer Joachim Low in early 2019, Boateng was due to leave Bayern last summer (as he had been the previous summer), but stayed at the Allianz Arena.
And, after 23 appearances this season, the 31-year-old has now declared to kick that he could imagine seeing his contract at Bayern. With just over 12 months left on his contract, Boateng said he was not impressed that other clubs had not investigated and that Munich did not wish to enter into contract negotiations.
“The club must approach me anyway,” he said. “I don’t need to leave Bayern in hell or in flood, I always have a contract.”
Gab Marcotti explains why UEFA must make a decision on players’ contracts if the season is extended.
PAPER TALK (by Nick Judd)
PSG wants Dybala but Juventus hopes it will stay
Speaking of PSG, Paulo Dybala has not yet signed a contract extension to Juventus and the Ligue 1 holders hope to be able to try the Argentine in the French capital.
It depends Le10sport, which reveal that Dybala’s agent Jorge Antun says that the talks are continuing and are not a formality. The sticking point seems to be Dybala’s annual salary, Juve offering 10 million a season and the player asking for 12 million.
PSG sports director Leonardo is a longtime admirer of Dybala and has made no secret that he would like to bring the striker to France, especially if his club loses one or both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe this summer. His employers would also be able to pay the player what he is looking for.
Dybala was in good shape for the Bianconeri before the season is stopped by the coronavirus and Juve are still hoping their man can add two more years to his current contract, which will expire in 2022.
Slaughter in Madrid boosts Arsenal’s candidacy for Ceballos
Arsenal has moved closer to the loan star’s signature Dani Ceballos on a permanent agreement following Real Madrid’s decision to classify him among the 12 players for sale at the end of the season.
The Gunners wish to extend the stay of the Spaniard, according to Daily Star, even if they were preparing for the 23-year-old to return to the Spanish capital at the end of the season.
Now, however, the Star has revealed that Ceballos is on a list of 12 players who will be eliminated by Zinedine Zidane at the end of the 2019-2020 campaign, which leaves Arsenal in pole position. Madrid had considered lending it again, but they have already been contacted by Valencia and Real Betis for a permanent deal, and they are now listening to offers.
Ceballos is scheduled to return to Madrid on June 30, but plans to stay in London to at least finish the season if and when that happens.
– RB Leipzig wants to keep both Angelino and Patrik schick beyond their loan periods this season, but the club may have to choose between the two due to the club’s financial situation, reports SportBild. The duo joined Leipzig from Manchester City and Roma, respectively, and the two played their part when the club reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in its history.
– Barcelona expects to sell Ivan Rakitic for the same price they brought him, according to Marca. The Croatian contract runs until 2021, which means that Barça will have to sell it this summer in order to obtain fees. And Marca suggests that the Barça hierarchy is confident of recovering the 18-21m they paid in Seville for their services in 2014. He has since made 299 appearances and won 13 titles.
