Aussie Perry, injured, excluded from T20 Cricket World Cup
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Ellyse Perry was kicked out of the rest of the Twenty20 Women's Cricket World Cup due to a hamstring injury, ending her participation in all games of the ; Australia since the start of the tournament in 2009.
Perry, 29, is the # 1 all-rounder in women's cricket and was voted the International Cricket Council player last year for 2019 for the second time in three years, winning the highest distinction.
She injured her right hamstrings in the win against New Zealand on Monday, which ensured quadruple Australian champion in the semifinals.
Perry is also set to miss the Australian tour of South Africa later this month.
Australia coach Matthew Mott said Perry was a key player for the defending champions but was confident the team could rise in his absence.
