In the final week before Nebraska begins spring football on March 9, the Journal Star takes a closer look at six players coming out of red shirt seasons that have some interesting springs to come.

The Huskers have 22 redshirt freshmen and a few older players coming out of a redshirt season in which they were limited to four games or less or did not play at all. This represents more than 30% of the NU fellows on the list.

This is a group that will have a lot to say about the fortune of the Nebraskas in 2020 and beyond.

Lets jump directly into it. McCaffrey played in four games for Nebraska in his first year and demonstrated his athleticism and ability to play. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry on 24 attempts, completed 9 of 12 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a pass for 12 yards.

McCaffrey, like all quarters of the Nebraskas, will be staring at the starting point. Can anyone get him away from Adrian Martinez, a two-year-old starter and captain of the team?
