Scotia-Glenville, Queensbury triumphs in Foothills Council girls’ tournament

Sophia Velasco led a singles sweep when Scotia-Glenville won South Glens Falls 7-0 in the semi-finals of the Foothills Council girls tennis tournament on Thursday.
Charlotte Tvelia, Cassie Cenzano, Emma Schaub and Maddie Cook also prevailed in singles, and the 9-2 Tartans won doubles against Piper Wiegert and Kaitlyn Blucher, and Emma Mathes and Natalie McGlauflin.
Queensbury ran his goal to 10-0 with a 7-0 win over Glens Falls. Queensbury number 1 singles Meghan Chase extended her season record to 10-0.
Burnt Hills / Scotia defeated Guilderland / Voorheesville 99-84 in a Suburban Council swim meeting. Kaci Owens won the 100 Free and 200 Free and helped out on two of Burnt Hills / Scotias three triumphant relays.
Kate Musser and Isabelle Tedesco scored the goals in Suburban Council’s Shakers 2-0 field hockey win over Niskayuna.
Cooper Murray amassed a few goals to fuel Troy in a 3-0 win over Albany for girls in Suburban Council. Margaret Adams made five saves for the shutout.
