Christchurch: The Cricket Advisory Committee (ACC) led by Madan Lal had two common questions for potential national selectors: "How are you going to manage the future of Mahendra Singh Dhoni with the Indian team and the stature of the skipper Virat Kohli?

Five candidates, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Venkatesh Prasad, Rajesh Chauhan, Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh, were asked a common question about Dhoni, who has not played since the World Cup semi-final against New -Zealand in July.
However, the former skipper will lead Chennai Super Kings in the IPL from March 29.
"Yes, the ACC had a common question and it was about their call regarding Mahendra Singh Dhoni and whether they will select him for the T20 World Cup," said a senior BCCI official. PTI.
Finally, Joshi and Harvinder were named the two new selectors in the five-member panel.
It is understood that the new BCCI regime wants the selection committee to have a clear position on the international future of Dhoni.
"Dhoni is both a sensitive and delicate problem and that is why the question had to be asked," added the source.
Some of the candidates were also asked if they "only look at the position of president" or if they would be happy to become only a selector.
While Sivaramakrishnan was a solid candidate, we learn that CAC was not sure if he would have been willing to serve only as a selector under the presidency.
As Lal himself pointed out, Joshi had no problem working with someone else at the helm. A reshuffle in the selection jury is planned for September at the end of the mandate of Jatin Paranjpe, Devang Gandhi and Sarandeep Singh.
"We liked his simple attitude," said Lal after the talks in Mumbai.
Lal was also asked if Virat Kohli was a strong captain, he was considered when selecting the panel and said that Joshi and Harvinder had the "best answers" on this particular subject.
"We have this factor the most in our mind. Our captain is a very good player. We have kept in mind that we find someone who can communicate with him, because at the end of counts, it is the captain, who must lead the team.
"The captain is very important to the team and so it is important to know how you communicate with him. What has happened is in the past, the two selectors we chose had the best answers on this subject."
