Feel the first place? Flyers win 8th consecutive position as metropolitan division pushes wild

In short, the Flyers were no longer looking.
With a 4-1 victory over the Hurricanes Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers temporarily climbed to the top of the metropolitan division.
For exactly 18 minutes.
As the Flyers (40-20-7) closed their eighth consecutive win, the best of the season, the Capitals and Rangers competed for Madison Square Garden.
New York beat Washington, 6-5, in overtime. With this result, however, the Flyers returned to second place due to the tiebreaker. Flyers and Capitals have 87 points and 30 regulatory wins, but Washington has more regulatory / overtime wins.
The Rangers took a 5-4 lead at the end of the third period, but couldn't keep it.

Meanwhile, the Flyer race continues to grow in print. Since January 8, the Flyers are 18-5-1 with a total of 91 NHL goals. During this streak, no team has collected more points than the Flyers 37. The Bruins also have 37.
The Hurricanes (35-25-5) played for the first time in five days and have lost four straight games.

The Flyers ambushed Carolina in the third period after the Hurricanes slipped within a goal.

If the Flyers win a playoff spot and a home ice in the first round, dominance by Carter Harts at home will be a major reason for this.
After making 28 saves on Thursday, the 21-year-old went to 19-2-2 at home. He allowed two goals or less in 19 of those 23 outings.

Michael Raffl and Tyler Pitlick connected in the second period to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead.
