California launches digital vaccine verification system, but says it’s not required

California has launched a digital vaccine verification system. As the state has just reopened, companies can use this system to enforce rules to protect against COVID-19. There is a similar program in New York called Excelsior Pass.

California has released a new digital vaccine verification system that allows residents to use it in place of a small CDC card to prove that they are being vaccinated against COVID-19.

The portal requires Californians to enter personal information such as age and date of birth. If the information matches the official record, the user will receive a text or email with a link to the digital record. This record contains a QR code that can be scanned to show reliability. The state says digital vaccine cards are not “vaccine passports.” They contain only the same information as CDC paper cards, and California does not mandate them. The digital version is just “one of the options to show evidence of vaccination” for the coronavirus, the state said in the FAQ section. California officially reopened on June 15 to abolish physical distance requirements, corporate capacity limits, and a hierarchical system that varies from county to county. Approximately 20 million vaccinated residents of the state can use the new system to prove vaccination status at companies that need it, but most have not confirmed vaccination.

New York State launched a similar program in March. The Excelsior Pass is created by IBM to allow New Yorkers to attend events that exceed the limits of state social gatherings. The 20,000-seat Madison Square Garden in New York City and the 17,500-seat Times Union Center in Albany both adopted the system early on.

This pass alleviates the problem for those who have lost their vaccine card, but it can also have problems accessing information. Not all records contain contact information, and some may be out of date, according to California’s Chief Innovation Officer, Rick Klau.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
