In new filing, Google denies destroying evidence in DOJ antitrust lawsuit

In response to the U.S. Department of Justice filing for federal sanctions, Google has made it clear that it has no intention of destroying evidence related to antitrust lawsuits involving Google’s search business.

On Friday, Google said it made “reasonable” efforts to keep records of communications.

DOJ claimed last month that Google failed to retain certain intra-company “chat” communications. According to DOJ, Google told U.S. investigators in 2019 that the company held off on allowing the automatic deletion of those instant messaging records.
