Google recently announced support for a passwordless login system, similar to what Microsoft, Apple, and others have already announced.

Google will allow you to log in to Gmail and other Google systems without using a password. Passwords are replaced with either biometric identification systems, enrolled smartphones, or security keys.

Google’s keys are FIDO compliant, part of a partnership between Apple and Microsoft, so they’re also compatible with all common operating systems between the two companies.

How can I create a Google Security Key?

To create your own Google Security Key, log in to your account and click[アカウントの管理],[セキュリティ]Click Then just select “Create Passkey”.

There, you can connect your Google Account security to the biometric authentication methods available on your device, whether it’s a smartphone or a computer. Typically, this method will be either fingerprint recognition or facial recognition.

If your Android phone is already linked to your Google Account, simply use it to access your Google Account on other devices.

Google says passwords and two-factor authentication are still in effect as this rollout will take time. Interestingly, the new security key removes the need for two-factor authentication, but you can leave it on if you want an extra layer of security.

With this new move, Google joins the wave of companies supporting passwordless logins, including PayPal, eBay, and Kayak.
