Franklin College Extends Presidential Agreement – ​​Inside INdiana Business

The Franklin College Board of Trustees has resolved to extend the contract with President Kelly Plather until at least June 30, 2026. In making its decision, the board cited Prather’s “outstanding leadership in moving the university forward.”

Prater was appointed acting president in January 2020 and won the permanent post the following month. In March 2021, the board announced that Mr. Prater would continue as chairman until at least July 2024.

The Board commended Mr. Prather for his work in establishing the University’s Digital Fluency Program and Technology Innovation Center, the Johnson Memorial Health Athletic Annex and the Competitive Esports Program.

The Franklin College community will continue to benefit from President Prazas’ leadership and willingness to make bold changes in an evolving and rapidly changing higher education environment, said Board Chair Peter Kanganyi News mentioned in the release.

Prather said he was “armed with confidence” by the board and hoped to continue the momentum the university has seen over the past three years.

“In the coming weeks, we will be announcing a new strategic plan that sets out a bold and ambitious vision for the future of educational institutions,” he said.

Mr. Prather has been with Franklin University since 1982, when he joined the company as an assistant men’s basketball coach. He was promoted to head coach in his 1983, a position he held for 36 years, along with athletic director and several other executive-level positions at the university.

Prather took office after his predecessor, Thomas Minnaar, was sacked over allegations of sexual misconduct. Minaar was later sentenced to six years in prison after he was arrested in a Wisconsin sex crimes investigation, claiming he did not contest child seduction and other charges.
