Google Maps’ longtime feature is coming to Apple Maps

“Reroute” is the number one thing I want Siri to tell me when I get lost in a no-signal zone on a road. Luckily, an iOS 17 update will soon allow you to use the iPhone’s Maps app offline, Apple announced at his WWDC event on Monday. When iOS 17 becomes available later this year, you’ll be able to download designated areas and access turn-by-turn navigation while using Maps offline. You can also check the estimated time of arrival and search for locations on the map.

Plus, Maps makes it easy to find thousands of trails in parks across the United States. Apple says the app will support electric vehicle drivers with real-time charging availability information.

When will offline maps for iPhone be available?

Offline Maps will be available on the iPhone with the release of iOS 17, due out this fall (usually late September for new iPhones). You need to make sure your iPhone is compatible with Apple’s latest software. Otherwise, you won’t be able to access this new Apple Maps feature.
