She can do it all! Two astronaut Barbie dolls who went to space will appear in the Air and Space Museum.

WASHINGTON – The highly anticipated “Barbie” movie starring Margot Robbie dominated the opening weekend box office with an estimated $155 million in ticket sales. But this is not the only “Barbie” debut.

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum showcases the first Barbie doll to fly into space with a real astronaut, along with other space-themed Barbie dolls.

As part of Mattel’s Space Discovery line, the dolls flew to NASA’s International Space Station aboard an Antares rocket in February 2022. The mission was intended to inspire young girls to pursue their careers in the STEM field.

The official Barbie Youtube video shows two Barbies touring the International Space Station, including the spaceship’s cupola with windows for astronauts to look down on Earth.

At the museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, the two dolls are on display alongside a 1965 Miss Astronaut doll, a 1985 African-American astronaut Barbie doll, a 1994 moon landing Barbie doll, and thousands of other space artifacts.
