Wahoo partners with SRAM to bring new AXS features to Roam and Bolt computers

Technology company Wahoo has announced that it has partnered with SRAM to bring the latest features of the newly released SRAM RED AXS groupset to its bike computers.

When the new groupset was launched on Wednesday, the standout feature was the integration of the groupset with SRAM's proprietary Hammerhead Karoo head unit. This allows riders to control the computer using new auxiliary buttons on the shifter and other customizable features.

Pairing the groupset with the bike computer is not required, but it does give you more flexibility and control over how your groupset integrates with the broader technology ecosystem of modern bikes.

The new auxiliary button functions similarly to the one found on the Shimano Di2 shifter, which is located on the top of the pommel. Wahoo has long integrated this feature into his Shimano Di2 groupsets. This new partnership with SRAM is expected to work in much the same way.

This feature will be available on Wahoos V2 bike computers (Roam and Bolt) after a software update. This allows you to control your computer's menu buttons from the shifter's auxiliary buttons. The advantage of this is that you no longer have to take your hands off the bars to scroll through the computer menu, giving the rider control at all times.

With news of these additional features from Wahoo, users of SRAM's latest flagship groupset will now be able to choose between the Hammerhead Karoo or Wahoos series of computers.

At this time, Wahoo will be the only aftermarket computer series that supports the ANT+ shifting protocol, as Garmin head units do not appear to be able to use this additional feature with the SRAM RED AXS.
