Google warns that security flaws in Pixel firmware could be exploited as zero-day attacks

Google has warned that a zero-day security flaw affecting Pixel firmware is being exploited in the wild.
The high severity vulnerability, tagged CVE-2024-32896, is described as a privilege escalation issue in the Pixel firmware.
The company did not provide additional details about the nature of the attacks exploiting this, but noted that “there are indications that CVE-2024-32896 may be undergoing limited and targeted exploitation.”
The June 2024 security update will fix a total of 50 security vulnerabilities, five of which are related to various components of Qualcomm chipsets.
Notable issues fixed include a Denial of Service (DoS) issue affecting modems, as well as a number of information leakage flaws affecting GSM, ACPM and Trusty.
The update is available on supported Pixel devices including 5G-enabled Pixel 5a, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a and Pixel Fold.
Earlier in April this year, Google resolved two security flaws (CVE-2024-29745 and CVE-2024-29748) in its bootloader and firmware components that were being exploited by forensic companies to steal sensitive data.
Then last week, Arm notified users that a memory-related vulnerability (CVE-2024-4610) in the Bifrost and Valhall GPU kernel drivers was being actively exploited in the wild.
