The Nigerian Government and the European Union (EU) are working to realise the revolutionary potential of technology for mutual benefit.

The meeting between Nigeria's Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, and the EU Ambassador to Nigeria, Samuela Isope, confirmed that the ministry is focusing on establishing joint research centres in areas such as renewable energy and climate-smart agriculture.

The Minister underscored his commitment to the partnership, highlighting its goals of building capacity, strengthening research infrastructure and enhancing collaboration with European research institutions.

The EU Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Samuela Isopi, stressed that he looks forward to expanding Nigeria’s involvement in the Erasmus Horizon Europe programme, recognised as the world’s largest research initiative.

We realized that Nigeria is rich in talent and has many research institutions, but it has not benefited from collaboration, so we started working together and are pleased to say that the current program has funded 27 projects.

She reaffirmed that Nigeria has rapidly climbed the ranks and is now among the top 10 African countries undertaking European Union studies.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Esabana Nko Asanye, has called on the European Union to support the training of scientific officers and engineers in European scientific institutions of excellence.
