When you install an app from the Google Play Store, you have the option to open it or uninstall it, but that may soon change as Google is reportedly testing a new feature that will automatically launch apps as soon as they're installed on your device.

According to a new report by Android Authority that dismantled the APK for Google Play Store v41.4.19, the new feature, called “App Auto Open,” will send users a notification that appears as a “banner at the top of the screen” when enabled.

Motivation will ring or vibrate the device depending on your device settings, but users have the option to silence it, and the flag that enables the feature suggests that notifications will last up to five seconds.

The APK teardown also suggests that the feature will be enabled by default but can be toggled on or off, and the report also suggests that despite enabling the flag, the feature isn't working at the moment.

Currently, there's no information on if or when App Auto Open will be available to all users, but if it does become available, the feature could be extremely useful for people who often forget to launch new apps immediately after installing them.

Over the past few months, Google has added several new features to the Play Store, such as the ability to “Ask someone to pay for this item,” the ability to download two apps simultaneously, and the ability to update apps with a limited amount of mobile data.
