Western Technical College Hosts IT Camp for Tomorrow's Tech Innovators

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) – Middle and high school students in the Coulee Area are getting the chance to experience innovative technology.

Western Technical College in La Crosse will host its first ever two-day IT Innovation Camp.

This morning, students were guided by Western technology instructors as they created their own websites. Afterwards, students visited local technology companies such as Kwik Trip, giving them an insight into what a real-world environment in the field is like. The camp aims to inspire students' creativity and prepare them for the future.

Tyler Ludeking, partnership specialist at Western Technical College, said giving students these opportunities helps them plan for the future.

“It's important for students to realize what opportunities are out there for them so that when they're in high school, or when they graduate from high school, they can have an idea of what direction they want to go in, whether that's global, whether that's manufacturing, those are all really important, critical jobs in this field,” Ludeking said.

Tomorrow marks the end of Western Tech's summer day camp programs for this age group, with all camps focusing on different career paths.
