Several online services including X (formerly Twitter), Jio, Airtel, Google, etc. are down across the country. According to down tracker Downdetector, several users have taken to the platform to report issues with several online platforms. Apparently, the reports started pouring in around 1:44 PM IST on Tuesday. Given the severity on the down tracker and the number of platforms affected at the same time, the issue is not limited to any particular company's servers and may be a nationwide network outage.

As of now, the outages seem to be reported only from India as other countries like Pakistan, US, UK, Australia and Brazil have not experienced any serious outages.

What cities are reporting the most power outages?

As mentioned earlier, the current outage has been reported across India. According to Downdetector's outage map, users in several cities have reported issues, including Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi, Kolkata, Cuttack, Nagpur, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Guwahati, with outages in other cities as well.

Which social media platforms are down in India?

According to Downdetector, X, as well as other social media platforms like Snapchat and Telegram, appear to be heavily affected. ABP Live has confirmed that none of these platforms are currently accessible. Meta-owned platforms like Instatram, Facebook and WhatsApp do not appear to be affected.

Which gaming platforms are down in India?

Apart from social media sites, several popular gaming platforms are also down. Garena Free Fire, Clash of Clans, Roblox, etc appear to be affected.

Which telecom companies are down in India?

At the time of writing, Jio and Airtel services are down across India, according to Downdetector.

Which OTT services are down in India?

The only streamers that appear to be most affected by the outage are Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

Why is this outage occurring?

There has so far been no explanation from the central government as to why such a large-scale blackout occurred across India.

This could simply be an issue due to a nationwide server outage and a fix may be forthcoming soon, however, confirmation from the authorities is still awaited.
