Studenac opens new distribution centre near Zagreb, focusing on sustainability innovation — Retail Innovation Hub

Studenac has expanded nationwide through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, more than tripling its store network in almost six years, and sees potential for further growth based on its proximity retail concept.

The Velika Gorica site will be equipped with a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) that will integrate all operations and an automated replenishment system that will optimise stock across the network. Studenac plans to incorporate environmentally friendly solutions such as a waste management system and solar panels on the roof.

“The construction of this distribution center marks another major step forward for our business,” said Stadenac CEO Michal Senczuk.

The new facility is expected to become operational in the second quarter of 2025, with the aim of increasing efficiencies across the supply chain while improving the quality of products offered in stores.

We view logistics as one of our competitive advantages, and will use this as a foundation to further develop our network and continue to promote our proximity store concept.

The project is being carried out in collaboration with real estate company Log Expert and with the support of supply chain management consultancy Graphene Partners.

2023 RTIH Innovation Awards

Studenac is the winner of the 2023 RTIH Innovation Award.

The company was recognized in the “Most Innovative Retailer” category for its work to automate decision-making and minimise the need for manual intervention across its supply chain.

The winners were announced at a stunning awards ceremony held at the Barbican Centre in central London.

The event took place on Wednesday 29th November and maintained the popular evening format with a drinks reception in the beautiful Conservatory, followed by a Christmas themed three course meal and an awards ceremony in the Garden Room.
