Gap Inc. announced this week that Sven Gergecz has joined the company as chief technology officer.

He joins after nearly seven years at Mattel, where he oversaw all aspects of technology and innovation, including shared technology platforms, AI, software and hardware development, blockchain and connected product design, as well as leading the toy maker's data security and privacy efforts.

In a memo to employees, CEO Richard Dickson said strengthening Gap's platform is a top priority as the company's family of brands, which includes Athleta, Old Navy, Banana Republic and its namesake Gap, continues to grow. “It's critical that our technology portfolio and digital roadmap help reinvigorate our brands, enabling them to build deeper connections with customers and achieve their goals.”

Gergetz will report to Dixon, who also hails from Mattel and served as Gap's chief operating officer before becoming president and CEO in 2023.

Prior to joining Mattel, Gergetz served as CIO of Time Warner Cable, where he integrated the IT and Cybersecurity groups and led the acquisition of Time Warner by Charter Communications, as well as CTO of Pearson Education and SVP of IT at DirectTV.
