'Datathon' drives tech innovation for safer communities

BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Police (KSP) on Saturday organised a 'Datathon', a platform to find solutions to various technological issues in police stations.

Through a new initiative, the KSP Computer Division is integrating advanced technology and data analytics into law enforcement operations. The project aims to improve public safety and operational efficiency, ensuring a safer community for all.

As an extension of this effort, KSP hosted a Datathon, inviting working professionals, the technology developer community, startups, and university students to brainstorm ideas.

The brainstorming sessions focused on providing detailed technical solutions to emerging challenges based on technologies such as predictive data analytics, traffic flow optimization and congestion management, police performance and resource management, data privacy in law enforcement, and accident data analysis through artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The event received over 11,000 applications and 890 ideas. The applicants were organized into different teams based on the theme of their ideas, and five teams were announced as winners.

The technologies developed during the event will be adopted by KSP.

KSP organised the event in collaboration with Microsoft and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).
