It was great! EE/BT veteran Alan Dixon to retire as retail IT refresh project nears completion

Alan Dixon has announced that he will be leaving EE/BT later this year.

“We're excited to be working with Salesforce to help transform the way we do business,” Dixon, now a principal technology partner in retail, said in a LinkedIn post.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that after 23 years of service, I will officially be leaving EE/BT at the end of September this year.

I started out as a call centre team manager and am now responsible for delivering technology to over 400 retail stores and 4,000+ guides.

It's been an amazing journey, with countless good and bad moments, experiences and opportunities that I will be forever grateful for. I've traveled all over the world to places I probably would never have visited, like Slovakia, India, and the Philippines.

He added, “But it's all thanks to the people – the people who fill my inbox, various chat tools and calendar every day, the probably thousands of people I've worked with over the years who've made my journey just that little bit brighter – and all the laughs we've shared along the way!”

To everyone at the call centre in Greenock, especially those sitting in the front corner of the building (those who know will know), some sat there for short periods and some sat there forever. It was my second home for a long time so it was fantastic!

To the current Retail team, you're all legendary – keep up the great work! And thanks to all the people involved who've brought the Retail IT Refresh project so close to completion – your intelligence, drive and determination have made this project the success we all expected it to be.

Dixon concluded by saying that the search for new opportunities begins now.

Waitrose is making a big move into AI with an expanded partnership with supply chain technology company Blue Yonder.

Waitrose is expanding its work with Blue Yonder by adding the supply chain solutions provider's forecasting capabilities.

The move marks Waitrose's first major introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into forecasting and is aimed at improving stock levels across the retailer.

Rather than relying on past sales data or human intuition, the AI predictive portion of Blue Yonder Demand Planning focuses on customer behavior, analyzing not just what customers buy, but why they buy it.

This feature understands and learns from the trading environment to provide better predictions based on customer behavior – for example, learning how customers reacted to different influences such as weather changes, major sporting or cultural events, and promotions.

The upgrade is part of a larger investment in technology across Waitrose's supply chain.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
